Reviving this blog

This is Joel's mom. Today, we revisited Joel's blog and rediscovered the words he had written when he was much younger. Joel is twelve years old at the writing of this entry. He turned twelve in October and is still in love with trains.

Since Joel can now write on this blog for himself, I am turning it over to him. He can write what he wants and he can post his own pictures. I look forward to reading the things he puts in it.

Important news: I got a lego train with a station. And what a train. An ICE train! Of course, and I have made lego city! Ok, I've also worked hard. But, I've been working since I was four! Now, I am eight years old. Figure out how long I've existed!

greetings,

joel!

note: this was written by Joel in Dutch. I've only done the translation for him.

coming close...

Mama's reserved a trip to Cologne. We'll be travelling all the way from Bodegraven to Keulen and back again--first class. I am excited because this will be my first time to go all the way to Germany on the ICE train.

Expect pictures here.

This year, I turned eight. My parents are giving me a new room. I am getting a train room in the colors of the Nationale Spoorwegen. Yellow and Blue. For my birthday, Mama bought me a clock from the NS shop. It's a really nice clock and I can't wait for my room to be ready so I can install my trains and put my collections on display.

When I grow up, I want to work on the railroad.

Papa's putting his flying stuff up for sale. This helmet was from when he used to go Hanggliding.

I also play football for Rohda76. My team is F-4. I like football, but maybe next year I will play tennis.

Last year, I attended the Feyenoord football camp. This year, we got free tickets to the Feyenoord vs. Willem II game. I bought a Feyenoord kite. One with two controllers. It's a collector's item.

I'll be posting another story soon. Mama has to translate it for me. It's in Dutch and it's about my brother Samuel and how I saved him from a kidnapper. Then, I was already a trainman and Samuel was just a little boy, so he was lucky he had me as a big brother to rescue him from his archenemy.

My trip on the ICE

This year, as part of my eighth birthday celebration, Papa took me on a train trip. For the first time, I saw the ICE up close and I got to ride in it too. Later this year, we'll be taking this train to Keulen to visit the Christmas Market (if all goes well). Thanks to everyone who sent me lovely notes and cards on my birthday.

See the landscape fly by in a blur...the ICE train can go as fast as 300 km. per hour. That's fast.

Well, here I am...back in Utrecht. This train is a nice train, but I still think the ICE is pretty cool. Next year, I want to take a trip in the Thalys.
